Oakenwood’s summer weekend workshops take place on a working farm in a beautiful Welsh valley, around 3/4 hour from Bristol, just over the border in South East Wales. Take a look at our Picture Gallery

The 15th century barn and adjoining camping field with herb garden are quiet, secluded and provide the perfect setting to relax, learn and enjoy.

Emphasis during the weekend is on passing knowledge orally, with practical demonstrations and a hands-on approach where possible. Many of the medicines we use today have their basis in the same herbs that our ancestors had knowledge of and used daily.

Today, the stresses and strains of living life take their toll on us all, but taking time out to consider the needs of the body can bring rewards that can’t be bought. Again, Oakenwood’s emphasis during its weekends are to pass knowledge of achieving the balance and equilibrium that today’s life often removes.

Oakenwood offers its workshop course at a cost of £80, which includes all materials and ingredients used, this covers only the cost of the course, accommodation and food is not included.

However, Oakenwood has sleeping accommodation available under canvas, which you are welcome to use, or alternatively you could bring your own small tent. Toilets, running water and washing facilities are available.  Accommodation, tent pitch (small tents only can be accommodated) and facilities are free of charge.

You are also welcome to share our meals, or can bring along your own food and make use of our BBQ and kitchen facilities, which includes refrigeration, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. We eat simple yet good healthy food including fresh herbs from our herb garden. Again if you choose to accept our hospitality of eating with us, there is no charge.

If you prefer bed and breakfast accommodation, there are local establishments to suit most requirements.
